The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is going to see an increase in its statistical tracking and video scouting.
The league has signed a four-year partnership agreement with InStat Hockey. It says the new partnership will provide detailed statistical analysis and video scouting to the OJHL’s 22 teams through the 2024-2025 season.
InStat is used by league and federation offices, coaches, scouts and management as a data and communication tool assisting in coaching processes, player development, statistical analysis and video scouting.
At the team level, coaches and players will be able to receive detailed game-by-game analytical reports, player shifts and emailed web links all corresponding to data-specific video.
“The OJHL is extremely happy to partner with InStat for our league analytics,” says Commissioner of the OJHL, Marty Savoy . “We see increased promotion of our players and opportunities for our league on the immediate horizon. What makes this truly a partnership is InStat’s sponsorship of our Top Prospects Game and Top Prospects Award for the next four years.”
The OJHL Top Prospects Game will be played on January 15th, 2022 in Collingwood. The Top Prospects Award is presented annually upon the conclusion of the OJHL’s regular season.
With InStat, OJHL coaches will receive team statistics and individual player data for each game, including time on ice, shots, scoring chances, faceoffs, hits, saves and more advanced stats such as CORSI and xG. The league and its 22 teams will also have the ability to use the video of teams and players from various professional, collegiate, junior and youth programs worldwide, for the purpose of scouting and player development.
“We could not be prouder than to work with the OJHL and its member organizations for the next four seasons. I want to thank Marty Savoy and Rick Morocco for all their hard work in helping to get this done, and we look forward to working together in the years to come,” says Director of Hockey for InStat North America, Mark Yates.
The Milton Menace will start their season on Friday, October 1st with a game against the Brantford 99ers at the Milton Memorial Arena.
