McHappy Day is next Wednesday (sep 22).
10% of all food and beverage sales McDonald’s in Alliston and the Alliston Walmart go to designated charities with 50% going go to Toronto Ronald McDonald House, 30% to Stevenson Memorial Hospital and 20% to Matthews House Hospice.
Stan and Lorraine DeSousa are from Everett.
Connor, their middle son, was diagnosed with leukemia and was sent Sick Kids in Toronto for treatment.
Lorraine says while she could stay in the hospital with Connor the rest of the family couldn’t and that’s where Ronald McDonald House comes in
Ronald McDonald House was there again for the DeSouza’s when crisis arose a second time.
She says not only could her family stay together, but the other families staying at Ronald McDonald House form a sort of support group.
Lorraine can’t stress enough how important Ronald McDonald House was to the DeSouza family.
Connor eventually had a bone marrow transplant, his older brother was a match, and that was 10 years ago.
