Today’s COVID-19 numbers are back to what we’ve been seeing over the last few weeks.
Across Halton, there 26 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 18,930. With 18,537 resolved cases and 238 deaths, Halton is now at 155 active cases, 11 more cases than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,930 total cases, 18,298 were confirmed positive while 632 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have six new cases. That brings us to 6099 total cases. With 6024 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 29 active cases, four more than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 6099 total cases, 5876 were confirmed positive while 223 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6375 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2185 total variant cases.
An outbreak in Milton was declared on Monday, August 23rd. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 154’. There are two reported cases. Both are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases, meaning they are not Halton residents. It’s likely that this outbreak closes in the coming days, pending any new reported cases – or that it already has closed and the webpage has not yet updated the status.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 849,034 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 765,076 of the doses were to Halton residents.
426,342 second doses have been administered in Halton. 382,753 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:
- 36,594 first doses and 41,960 second doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
- 37,215 first doses and 39,098 second doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
- 24,127 first doses and 24,096 second doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
- 28,568 first doses and 28,062 second doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
- 32,996 first doses and 33,065 second doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
- 35,481 first doses and 36,128 second doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
- 37,005 first doses and 37,820 second doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
- 36,111 first doses and 36,497 second doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
- 34,805 first doses and 34,250 second doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
- 28,481 first doses and 27,996 second doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
- 25,114 first doses and 24,090 second doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
- 22,747 first doses and 22,089 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,174 first doses and 16,934 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,603 first doses and 24,259 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,671 first doses and 27 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 69,358 first doses and 87,897 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 14,052 first doses and 10,406 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 339,282 first doses and 328,039 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 438,537 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 90,663 fully immunized residents – 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
