100 Women Who Care Milton has chosen to support Food4Kids Halton.
The group held its quarterly meeting on Zoom recently and heard from three local charities:
- Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton;
- Food4Kids Halton; and,
- Dare To Be You.
The members voted, and eventually awarded Food4Kids Halton with the donation. Usually, each member would donate $100. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has moved to a ‘donate what you can’ model.
The Executive Director for Food 4 Kids Halton, Gayle Kabbash, had some nice things to say about 100 Women Who Care Milton during the meeting.
Food4Kids Halton was previously awarded at a meeting in 2017, says Kabbash.
So, what exactly does Food4Kids Halton do?
The group gathers food that is then distributed to children in school. The organization goes out of its way to ensure that the food is healthy and meets dietary needs. Another focus is making sure that every child in a home receives their own food package. The food is discretely given to the children on a Friday so that they are able to bring the food home and eat over the weekend. Program Coordinator at Food4Kids Halton, Stacey Halliday, breaks down the numbers.
