Does Milton have an excessive noise issue when it comes to vehicles?
The topic was raised at the most recent Town Council meeting by Regional Councillor for Milton’s Ward 1, Colin Best, and Town Councillor for Ward 1, Kristina Tesser Derksen. Best says there have been a lot of noise complaints regarding vehicles, adding that he was wondering if there was room for the Town’s current bylaw on excessive noise to do more to enforce the issue.
Councillor Tesser Derksen says she’s heard complaints from residents regarding one specific road.

Councillor Tesser Derksen says that while Tremaine Road has become a hot spot for excessive noise, the issue is most prominent in these rural areas.

He says this is more of a Halton Police matter, as the HRPS already monitors the issue through its Project Noisemaker initiative that runs every year. He feels that, because of that, the Town should leave it to the officers to control.
Audio PlayerCouncillor Tesser Derksen agrees that maybe a bylaw isn’t the solution, but she hopes the Town might work closer with the Halton Police to better control the excessive noise in Milton.
She says that, in her experience, the Halton Police has consistently proven its willingness to follow-up on reports and claims of this nature. It could be as simple as highlighting more hot spots to officers.
