The Townsend Smith Hospice Foundation is happy with the result of their annual fundraising hike.
The Hike for Hospice had to be virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That posed a lot of questions and raised a lot of concerns for participants.
However, the Director of Development for Townsend Smith, Kate Holmes, says the whole event was terrific!
The Townsend Smith Hospice Foundation’s goal is to bring a hospice to North Halton. They feel the area is underserved in the way of palliative care and have been fundraising to help find an appropriate building in the area to turn it into the best home for their service.
Holmes says they had a modest fundraising goal heading into this year’s hike, and they smashed it out of the park.
The top fundraiser this year was Victoria Hughes. She says she was shocked to find out that Milton didn’t have a hospice, and after doing research, decided she was going to take part in this year’s hike.
Holmes says Hughes blew the Townsend Smith Foundation away with her fundraising achievements.
The Townsend Smith Foundation is holding another event at the moment. It’s called Handbags for Hospice. You’re able to bid on purses, with all of the proceeds going towards helping bring a hospice to North Halton.
The auction will close on Wednesday, October 28th.
