Milton Transitional Housing is the awarded charity from last week’s 100 Women Who Care Milton event.
It was a hybrid event held both on Zoom and in-person at Country Heritage Park. It was the first in-person meeting since January.
Donna Danielli made the presentation for MTH. She was very thankful to be presenting.
Milton Transitional Housing helps local homeless families get back on their feet. A big part of their funds come from their annual Coldest Night of the Year event, which was fortunate enough to be held pre-pandemic this year. They surpassed their goal, raising more than $50,000.
Danielli says sometimes people just need a helping hand, and explains how they help.
Danielli adds that they have a varied client list that even includes single-mothers fleeing abuse with their children. One case that she refers to in her presentation was a mother that managed to get back on her feet and get a job as a personal support worker. Her son was also able to go back to school.
Another mother had dropped out of high school, got married, had three children, and then fled from her abusive husband with the children. She says MTH was able to help her finish her high school diploma and get a job in the office of a local importing company.
One case she refers to in her presentation was a young man who had been thrown out of his parents home. Milton Transitional Housing helped him finish high school and get into college.
Danielli is proud of her work at MTH.
The other two charitable organizations that presented were Dare To Be You and the Women’s Centre of Halton.
Traditionally, each member of 100 Women Who Care Milton writes a cheque to the awarded charity. Due to the nature of the event, and the pandemic, members were asked to eTransfer the money to Milton Transitional Housing. At the time of writing, it is unknown how much the organization has received.
