100 Women Who Care Milton will be holding an in-person gathering tonight. (Wednesday, October 7th)
It will be their first in-person event since January, and the final one of 2020.
Three local charitable organizations will hold presentations. It will not be public knowledge which organizations will be presenting until the event begins. The group of women will then vote on the most worthy charity. Each will write a cheque of $100 to the awarded charity.
One of the founding members of the local group, Liane Labarbera, says the meeting will also be broadcast virtually for those feeling uncomfortable physically attending an event during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Spring’s 100 Women Who Care Milton meeting was cancelled due to the pandemic. The group then held a modified virtual meeting where, instead of listening to three presentations and voting as a group, there were 30 local organizations. Members were then asked to donate $100 to the charity of their choice.
Food for Life Halton was the recipient in January, receiving $6300 from the group of women.
Labarbera says, whether it was cancelling altogether, holding a virtual event or now combining an in-person and virtual event, they’re trying their best to adapt to the pandemic.
The meeting will be at Country Heritage Park tonight, starting at 6:30 p.m.. COVID-19 protocols will be in place, including a screening process at the door.
If you’d like to attend, you’re welcome to join the group. The event is being held outdoors, so they have a 50-person gathering limit. You can also follow along online. Click here to find out more about the group and their virtual broadcast of the meeting.
