The Association of Nigerian Community Milton made a big donation to the Milton District Hospital Foundation.
A cheque for $7250 was given to the MDHF, raised by 100 local Nigerian families.
President of the Association, Andrew Esemezie, says they wanted to help the community during this hard time.
Esemezie adds that he is very proud of the families who donated, even if it can be a difficult time for people financially.
The idea for the fundraiser and donation was initiated by Milton resident, Ada Nwosu.
She says she just wanted to find a way to help.
Nwosu talks about calling and texting to get the 100 families to donate.
It became something families wanted to be a part of.
Nwosu says if you’re thinking about starting something, just do it.
Due to COVID-19, a formal presentation could not be held. The MDHF created a collage of the families to thank them for the donation.
