A local public school is giving their students the microphone.
Viola Desmond Public School has recently launched a new podcast studio for students to use.
Teacher-Librarian, Amanda Williams-Yeagers, was one of the minds behind the idea.
She explains why the students needed this creative outlet.
Williams-Yeagers adds that VDPS has been looking at how their students can express themselves better.
She says through podcasting, they may be able to show the teachers something different or unexpected.
She says the best part is seeing their initial reactions to the recording experience.
The plan is to use the studio as a way to give the students a new voice.
As well as allowing their custodian to give weather updates.
