The Townsend Smith Foundation are closer to having their hospice.
The organization was a topic of discussion at last night’s Town Council meeting.
They have a Milton location in mind, Chris Hadfield Park on Martin Street.
Director of Development for the Townsend Smith Foundation, Kate Holmes, says things are looking up.
Holmes adds that Milton would make a great home for a hospice.
She says Chris Hadfield Park still has a lot to offer for the community.
However, that land is currently on the heritage property list. But that shouldn’t be a problem according to Holmes.
The Townsend Smith Foundation believe the hospice will be built in North Halton in the next three years.
Town Council approvedĀ in principle, the concept of the Townsend-Smith Foundation developing a hospice within Chris Hadfield Park, incorporating the existing historic railway station on a long-term lease basis.
Town staff is now directed to engage legal representation to investigate, on a preliminary basis, a potential long-term lease agreement between the Town and the Townsend-Smith Foundation with respect to the potential development of a hospice within Chris Hadfield Park.
