The Milton Public Library (MPL) is partnering with several Ontario libraries through OverDrive’s Reciprocal Lending Agreement.
This will enhance access to eBooks and Audiobooks for Milton residents.
Through this collaboration, MPL patrons can now borrow OverDrive digital materials from Burlington, Hamilton, Kingston Frontenac, London, Mississauga, and Ottawa Public Libraries. This partnership significantly expands the variety of digital collections available, offering more opportunities to discover new books, authors, and genres.
“This collaboration is a major step forward in enhancing our digital offerings,” says Sarah Douglas-Murray, CEO and Chief Librarian of Milton Public Library. “By working with these well-established libraries, we are providing our community with greater access to diverse reading materials, ensuring more opportunities for learning, discovery, and enjoyment.”
Milton Public Library already offers reciprocal borrowing, allowing its cardholders to access physical collections from select partner libraries and vice versa. This new digital lending agreement builds upon that foundation, further increasing access to digital resources across communities and ensuring MPL patrons benefit from a richer selection of reading materials.
Milton residents can explore these expanded collections using their MPL library card through OverDrive or the Libby app. The initiative allows seamless borrowing across partner libraries, making it easier to find in-demand titles while prioritizing access for home users.

The MPL has also been busy this year with upgrading its internal system as well!
Speaking with Douglas-Murray earlier this month, she touched on how the MPL has made significant improvements with their system, allowing patrons to really benefit it different ways.
Audio PlayerShe adds that while they believe the transition has gone smoothly, patrons can reach out to staff through email at MPL@BeInspired.ca or by visiting any of the three branches:
- Main library – 1010 Main Street East in Milton
