
Kristina Tesser Derksen (2019)
The Ontario Liberal Party has named their candidate for Milton in the upcoming provincial election.
Milton’s Town Councillor for Ward 1, Kristina Tesser Derksen, will represents the Liberals.
“I am thrilled to announce Kristina Tesser Derksen as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Milton,” says Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals, in a statement. “Kristina always puts her community first, and has established a strong track record of helping Milton residents through her work as a community leader serving on several local boards and as a Milton Town Councillor. Together, we’ll deliver more for Ontario by making life more affordable, cutting taxes, and ensuring every family has access to the health care, education, and housing they need!”
Other candidates announced include:
- Zee Hamid (Ontario Progressive Conservative Party)
- Katherine Cirlincione (New Democratic Party of Ontario)
- Susan Doyle (Green Party of Ontario)
Tesser Derksen was born and raised in Milton. In a release, the Liberal Party says she understands the needs of local families and the importance of community service. Along with being a Town Councillor, Tesser Derksen is also a practicing lawyer and business person. She has sat on several important local boards, including:
- Milton Economic Development Advisory Committee (Chair)
- Milton Chamber of Commerce
- Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area
- Conservation Halton
- Canadian Federation of University Women
- Townsend Smith Foundation
She is also a member of the Nassagaweya Community Consultation Committee and the Milton Quarry Community Advisory Panel.
“Milton families are further behind than ever due to Doug Ford and his Conservatives,” says Tesser Derksen. “Milton deserves better. People are struggling to find a doctor, put food on their tables, and roofs over their heads. These necessities of life have been out of reach for too many for too long. No more. I am proud to call Milton my home and look forward to advocating for every local family. The time for change is here and I’m ready to bring it!”
The election is set for Thursday, February 27th.
