The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has laid multiple charges after two suspects were found in possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Thursday, January 16th, at roughly 10:40 p.m. as part of an ongoing investigation, officers with the HRPS located a stolen Toyota 4Runner on Parkdale Avenue North in Hamilton. As officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle it fled and collided with two HRPS vehicles. The stolen vehicle continued north on Main Street, where it lost control at Strathearne Avenue. A male driver and female passenger then fled on foot. The man was apprehended a short distance away with the woman taken into custody by officers a short time later with the assistance of the Hamilton Police Service. No further suspects are being sought.
The recovered vehicle had been reported stolen from the Burlington area on Monday, January 13th.
No physical injuries were sustained.
As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Steven Costello of No Fixed Address has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Flight from Police
- Fail to Comply with Probation
- Operation while Prohibited
24-year-old Natalie Campbell of No Fixed Address has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000
Costello and Campbell have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
