The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a Toronto man on gun and drug charges following an early morning traffic stop in Oakville.
On Saturday, November 16th, at roughly 4:30 a.m., officers witnessed a vehicle driving at extreme speeds as it exited the QEW at Royal Windsor Drive. The vehicle entered the Ford Assembly Plant, where a traffic stop was conducted.
The man was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic firearm, and drugs that included cocaine and fentanyl.
As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Dejaun Gibbs of Toronto was charged with:
- Dangerous Operation
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm, Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (2 counts)
- Fail to Comply -Being on a Release Order
- Possession for the Purpose – Schedule 1 – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose – Schedule 1 – Fentanyl
At the time of his arrest, Gibbs was on a Release Order with conditions not to possess any weapons.
