A Milton teenager is hitting the pavement, in more ways than one.
Natalia Wietki has been go-kart racing for three years now. She remembers growing up watching F1 racing with her dad, Rafal. In 8th grade, her friend introduced her to go-karting. That’s when the magic began.
She took to the sport like a natural, often receiving praise for how fast she’s picked it up in such a short amount of time. Her first race was in a division called Junior Heavy, which she says is filled with racers that have been at it for up to seven years.
Speaking with Rafal, he says it’s always hard to see his daughter whip around the track, especially with how close they get to each other during races. He recalls a time where she flipped her kart, leading to a scar on her arm.
Natalia says she’d like to keep racing while she’s able to, and would love to be involved with the sport in any capacity as she gets older. She’s just unsure as to what that would look like right now, as she focuses on her prospering career.
The young driver now finds herself heading on the road, with an event coming up in Jacksonville, Florida in January. The father-daughter duo are looking for sponsors to help fund the trip. They need about $8000 for this trek alone. A number of local businesses have already put their name in the hat to help her. If you’d like to help, click here.
