A Milton woman is among two that were arrested during a protest in Toronto.
The protest was being held in the area of College Street and Bay Street, in front of a Toronto Police headquarters, on Friday, October 25th. It’s alleged that officers formed a line in the curb lane with their bicycles to prevent demonstrators from entering the roadway. According to the Toronto Police, one of the demonstrators attempted to push past the officers to enter the roadway. They say that when the woman refused to listen to police direction, she proceeded to punch one of the officers, following up by forcibly pushing a second officer. While attempting to place the suspect under arrest, Toronto Police say a second demonstrator pushed officers in an attempt to intervene in the arrest. Both women were subsequently placed under arrest
A 49-year-old Toronto woman was charged with two counts of Assault of a Peace Officer.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, December 19th.
A 24-year-old Milton woman was charged with Obstruct of a Peace Officer
She is scheduled to appear in bail court on Thursday, December 19th.
