A local man has been busted for having a large quantity of magic mushrooms.
On Thursday, October 24th, Waterloo Regional Police completed a search warrant at a business in the area of King Street East and Waterloo Street. Investigators seized a large quantity of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) in various forms and Canadian currency.
A 38-year-old man from Halton Region was arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Waterloo Police warn the public that the sale (trafficking) of psilocybin is a criminal offence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), as psilocybin is categorized as a Schedule III controlled substance. Businesses engaged in selling these products are operating unlawfully, and the substances they offer are neither regulated nor subject to standardized quality control measures.
