The Milton Historical Society (MHS) has announced a Halloween-inspired presentation for their Monthly Speaker Series.
Local historian and author John McDonald will make a presentation on Thursday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. entitled ‘Spirits Among Us’, which covers the development of horror, spiritualism, the history of funeral and mourning customs, as well as some of the haunted sites in Milton.
The Society’s Monthly Speaker Series presentations are free to the public and take place at the historic Waldie Blacksmith Shop at 16 James Street. Guest fellowship takes place following each presentation and includes coffee, tea and sweets.
If you enjoy the event on Thursday, McDonald will return on Thursday, November 21st at 7:30 p.m. for a presentation entitled, ‘The Show Must Go On: A History of Entertainment, Art & Culture in Milton’, which will review the development of entertainment and culture in Milton, including the public library, moving pictures as well as vaudeville and the various travelling shows that came to Milton.
