A home on Milton’s Martin Street has been designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Located at 168 Martin Street, and known as the Thomas-Coxe House, the building is described by Town Staff as “an excellent example of a Victorian-era Neo-Gothic style house.” It was built by Esquesing Township Councillor Thomas Coxe in 1894.
In 2009, the house was a key feature in Martin Street being listed by Toronto Star as the third best street to live on in the Greater Toronto Area.
At the most recent Town Council meeting on Monday, February 12th, Milton’s Councillors voted unanimously to recognize the home for its historical significance. It joins other homes in and around downtown Milton that have reached a similar status. These homes are protected with the goal of historical preservation.
