You can be a part of the Milton Menace family!
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) team is in immediate need for up to two billet families for incoming players.
Each season, the Milton Menace welcome players from all across Canada to become a part of the organization, and players from out of town want to experience their time away from families in a caring home environment.
Some players reside with local families known as ‘billet’ or ‘host’ families who provide a room and board during the hockey season, which will typically end by mid-late March or early April; the later in the year, the better!
Here are the billet family requirements:
- A private bedroom for the player. Players should not be housed in a room with younger members of the billet host family;
- the billet home should be clean and organized;
- a caring and friendly home atmosphere;
- the same guidance and attention you would want for your children;
- provide nutritious meals for the player or have food on hand that the player can prepare on his own. (Players are responsible for meal expenses when traveling);
- provide access to internet, bathroom and common-areas such as living rooms, laundry room, etc.; and,
- as a member of the family, our players are required to follow any house rules that you set for them. Provide them with a set of rules before they arrive, as well as help to enforce team rules relating to curfew, visitors, and standards of behavior.
Billet families will receive a $500 monthly stipend to offset expenses incurred by billeting, but the real benefit to billet families is the lasting relationships formed with these young players and their families.
The team also notes that billet families do not need to worry about travel. The players are responsible for their own vehicles.
Those interested can contact Stephanie Tryfon by sending an email to steph@miltonmenace.com. The players are set to arrive in August, with training camp starting Wednesday, August 16th.
