A local celebration ended with the death of a three-year-old boy.
On Saturday May 27th, just after 7:00 p.m., emergency services were called to an address near the intersection of Speers Road and Third Line in Oakville after the boy was pulled from a backyard pool without vital signs.
Several adults and children had gathered at the private residence for a celebration. The child went underwater and apparently undetected for an undetermined period of time.
Lifesaving measures were immediately done by adults present and continued by emergency services personnel.
The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police will not be releasing the name of the child or further details of those who attended the gathering.
All deaths involving children under five years of age become the mandate of the Halton Regional Police Service’s Homicide Bureau who have commenced their investigation together with the Coroner’s Office. At this time no charges have been laid, and police have determined there to be no criminality; however, the investigation is ongoing.
