You can help Milton residents in need this holiday season.
The Salvation Army Khi Community in Milton is accepting donations for its Milton Christmas Assistance Program. It collects toys that will be distributed to more than 800 households, with more than 1800 children. They then open up the “toy shop” and families can come in and pick out toys.
Captain Ruth Hickman is the Director of Family Services with the local Salvation Army. She says the pandemic has really highlighted the need for this program.
They are looking specifically for toy donations for infants between zero – 24 months old, as well as pre-teens and teenagers. For food donation, they’re in need of non-perishable items that haven’t expired. You can also make monetary donations, which will help pay for the facility and small staff.
All donations can be received at 820 Nipissing Road in Milton. Alternatively, food and toy donations can be made at any Milton fire station and financial donations can be made at any of the six permanent Kettle locations (and several pop-up locations) throughout the season. They desperately need volunteers for the kettle campaign, so if you’d like to donate your time, click here.
The Salvation Army Khi Community helps residents in Milton, Campbellville, Hornby, and Moffat. The toys will be available to local children between zero – 17 years old. You can register by calling 905-875-1022 to book an appointment. You just need a valid ID showing your current address and valid ID for all children receiving toys.
