Afro Jazz Fest is happening in Milton this weekend!
The festival is happening at Milton Community Park (805 Santa Maria Blvd, Milton) on Friday, August 26th from 5:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m., and on Saturday, August 27th from 2:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m..
Attendees can enjoy the free event and get to know the beauty and diversity of African and Caribbean cultures in the Halton Region through performing arts, visual arts, music, food, storytelling, and more.
Tdot Batu is one of the many groups that will be performing on Friday. The band collaborates with members of the arts and music community to create spectacular participatory celebrations that reflect the vast color and energy of Brazilian culture.
Band member, Pato (Patricio Martinez) says it will be the first time Tdot Batu is performing in Milton.
The Afro-Brazilian percussion group is inspired by the rich rhythmic tradition born out of the fusion of samba and reggae from Salvador, Bahia.
They’ll be on stage at 7:30 p.m..
The festival is held once a year on the last weekend of August.
Artists from over 12 cultural communities will entertain the public and instill pride in Afro-Caribbean history and culture at this 2022 edition.
