The 4th annual All Hands on Deck food drive at John’s No Frills has come and gone, and we had lots of help from the community.
That help includes nearly a dozen players from the Milton Menace stopping by to bag groceries and put donations in the back of the provided Wallace Chevrolet truck.
Speaking with newly named captain Owen Forester, he says it’s great to help an organization like Food4Kids Halton.
Forester is taking over the leadership role from longtime Menace captain Jordan Stock. In 27 games with Milton last season, the right handed defenceman scored four goals and tallied 21 assists for nearly a point-per-game pace. He’ll be off to Yale University in the states after the 2022-2023 season.
His teammate, Blake Riddall, says it’s always great to see the young hockey players who look up to the OJHL players. He knows some of them might be beneficiaries from the Food4Kids Halton program, and so he’s happy to help out whenever he can.
Forward Cole Semeniuk is expecting big things for this year’s Menace team, who managed to take the league by storm last season.
The Milton Menace will launch the entire OJHL season with a game in Caledon against the Admirals. That will be on Thursday, September 8th at 8:00 p.m.. The Menace home opener will be the next day, Friday, September 9th, at 7:30 p.m.. The Menace will take on the Mississauga Chargers.
We’re expecting the final tally for the food drive in the coming days, so stay tuned for that.
