United Way Halton & Hamilton was showcased as the centre of excellence at the United Way Worldwide conference that took place on March 31st.
In this United Way Worldwide conference, 37 United Way CEOs and their teams from countries around the world came together to share their knowledge as they embark on another year of strong efforts to fundraise in support of people across their respective communities.
Jennifer Loker, Vice President, Resource Development at United Way Halton & Hamilton was featured as an industry expert panellist.
Loker shared how the organization’s hyper-local fundraising and investments strategy led to success during last year’s fundraising campaign.
“At a time when many charities are facing immense hardship as a result of the global pandemic, our local United Way hit milestones,” says Brad Park, president and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “As a leader in the nonprofit sector, I am proud that Jennifer has the opportunity to represent our United Way on a global scale for the intent of knowledge translation.”
Park attributes this success to operational excellence, sound governance, organizational efficiencies, the adoption of technologies and an incredible team of individuals relentlessly focused on the organizational mission.
“The charitable sector is facing significant pressures, and with a number of programs relying on United Way funding, it is not an option for our team to lessen our impact,” notes Park.
Jennifer has been a part of the United Way movement since 2005. As a United Way Worldwide Mentor, she is an experienced presenter through national conferences, where she trains and actively participates in United Way Leaders Networks, including facilitating Campaign Analytic programs in communities across Canada.
“After two years of the pandemic, communities all over the world are still feeling the effects of COVID-19, like isolation, struggling to maintain their mental health, and trying to make ends meet for themselves and their families,” says Loker. “It’s so essential that we come together as United Ways to share our resources, so we can continue our important work as leaders in the nonprofit community.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic into its second year, along with the rising cost of living, the strain on the social fabric of our communities can be felt across the globe.
The nonprofit sector plays an important role in supporting people who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
Loker’s resources will be shared across United Way’s Worldwide network as a vital tool to support the upcoming fundraising campaign in support of the most vulnerable people around the globe who rely on local programs and services to help rebuild their lives.
