With less than a week until the federal election, we’re continuing our interviews with candidates from Milton’s two ridings.
Milton is being split in half to create two separate ridings this time around. ‘Milton East’ will pair with ‘Halton Hills South’ for one of them, and the other will see ‘Milton West’ pair with ‘Burlington North’. Read more on the new ridings here.
There are a total of 10 official candidates between the two ridings.
Walter Hofman is the candidate for the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) in the ‘Milton East – Halton Hills South’ riding.
Here’s our interview:
Audio PlayerINT – Let’s start this one off nice and easy, Walter. Give me an elevator pitch on your platform – the PPC platform. What are your priorities in this election?
Audio PlayerINT – To snowball on what you were saying about affordability, it’s an ongoing issue for most (if not all) Miltonians. What can the federal government do to improve the cost of living – whether that be housing, groceries or anything else that affects our day-to-day lives?
Audio PlayerINT – You mentioned putting funding into Canadian resources, and as the consumer, Canadians are trying their best to do that by buying local and buying Canadian. The tariffs are obviously on everyone’s mind. How should Canada handle the ongoing trade war with the United States?
Audio PlayerINT – I always ask about local environmental issues when I do these interviews. The two most prominent ones that keep coming up are the CN Intermodal Hub and the Campbellville Quarry. Do you plan on helping residents fight back against these concerns?
Audio PlayerINT – So, those are the three questions provided by our listeners when we asked them to be submitted. Before I let you go, I’ll offer up an open ended question. Is there anything else you’d like to talk about? Any issues, concerns, topics?

The election is set for Monday, April 28th.
