As housing costs continue to rise across the country, the Town of Milton is taking proactive steps to support affordability and improve access to housing.
Milton has completed its Housing Needs Assessment (HNA), a key first step in developing a long-term housing strategy that aligns with federal programs like the Housing Accelerator Fund and Canada Community-Building Fund.
The HNA, now available online, uses local data, surveys, interviews, and focus groups to highlight five priority areas, including affordability, diverse housing types, rental supply, affordable ownership options, and collaboration with key partners. Although the Town doesn’t build housing, it plays a vital role through land-use planning, approvals, and partnerships.
It’s next phase will set goals, actions, and implementation plans, with public input welcomed through upcoming engagement opportunities.
