The Milton Menace were unable to sustain two leads and it ended up being their downfall on Monday night.
Game two of the OJHL took place at the Milton Memorial Arena on Monday, April 21st in front of 1202 people in attendance.
It was Justin Dezeote who started things off for the Menace. His 4th of the postseason was assisted by Luke Johnston and Madden MacDougall. Trenton would get one back on the powerplay late in the opening frame to make things tied 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Luke Johnston took back the lead for Milton. His 13th of the OJHL Playoffs was helped by Justin Dezoete and Menace Captain Graeme MacAuley on the powerplay. A pair of Menace penalties late in the period would lead to a Trenton tying goal with 8 seconds to go. It was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes of action.
Trenton would take the lead for the first time in the game in the final frame. They’d carry that lead to the end, winning the game 3-2.
Carter Bickle was in net for the loss for Milton. He stopped 27 of 30 shots, giving him the even .900% save percentage.
While Milton was the second most penalized team in the OJHL regular season, the penalties in this series have noticeably been amped up. Milton averaged just over 18 PIM per game in the regular season. In the last two games, the Menace are averaging 20 PIM per game, with 28 coming from game two alone. Will Milton continue to play their rough and tough style that got them to the Finals, and if they do, will it benefit them or continue to hamper their play? We’ll find out in game three.
The team hits the road on Wednesday, April 23rd for game three, with it taking place at Duncan Memorial Gardens. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
Game four sees the action return to the Milton Memorial Arena on Friday, April 25th at 7:30 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
