The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) had a busy Easter long weekend, taking several dangerous drivers off the road and responding swiftly to community concerns.
On Friday, April 18th, officers clocked a vehicle going 123 km/h in a 60-zone on Main Street in Milton. The driver was charged with stunt driving, leading to a 14-day vehicle impound and a 30-day licence suspension.
The next day, April 19th, a vigilant citizen called in a suspicious tow truck crawling at just 10 km/h in a 70 zone. Police discovered the truck was unsafe for the road—plates were seized, the truck was removed from service, and the driver, who also owns the company, is now facing 11 charges. Later that day, another driver was caught speeding through a Georgetown school zone on Mountainview Road at 92 km/h in a posted 50 zone. That vehicle was also impounded for 14 days, and the driver is facing multiple charges.
On Easter Sunday, April 20th, officers stopped a Porsche flying down Guelph Line at 128 km/h in a 60-zone. Once again, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence suspended under stunt driving laws.
The long weekend wrapped up on Monday with two more stunt charges in Milton—one driver going 137 km/h in a 70-zone (a repeat offender), and another caught doing 105 km/h in a 60-zone just before 7:00 a.m.
