The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is urging parents and students to think twice about a trending game that’s raising serious safety concerns in local communities.
Known as the “Assassins Game,” it involves students targeting one another with water or Nerf-style guns – sometimes in public areas and often using toy weapons that resemble real firearms.
Police say they’ve responded to several incidents this week where unsuspecting bystanders, unaware of the game, called 911 in fear. These types of calls lead to elevated emergency responses and create dangerous situations for everyone involved. HRPS warns that participants could face serious consequences, including criminal charges.
In 2024, a lockdown was put in place at Notre Dame Secondary School in Burlington as a result of this game.
Police are strongly discouraging youth from playing the game and urging parents to talk to their children about its risks.
