Students at Milton District High School (MDHS) are making a life-changing impact—one swab at a time.
Led by the Social Justice and Healthcare SHSM programs, MDHS became the first high school in the Halton District School Board (HDSB) to host a stem cell awareness campaign, holding their inaugural event this past weekend at the 2nd annual Milton Dessert Festival + Spring Fling Market inside the Milton Sports Centre.
Turnout was significant, with some even opting to register and be swabbed on site. Many others took kits home to consider joining the registry.
The students shared their gratitude for the community’s support, saying this is just the beginning of a much bigger mission.
As Milton continues to grow and diversify, these students hope to give back by encouraging more residents to join the stem cell registry—because a single match can be someone’s last hope. Whether it’s a newborn, teen or neighbour in need, registering today could save a life tomorrow.
The students are proud of their hometown and want to make a lasting impact before graduation—and they’re asking the community to stand with them.
