We’re just a couple months removed from the provincial election, and we’re already heading into another one at the federal level.
This comes after new Prime Minister Mark Carney called an early election after winning the vote as the new Liberal Party of Canada Leader.
Milton is being split in half to create two separate ridings this time around. ‘Milton East’ will pair with ‘Halton Hills South’ for one of them, and the other will see ‘Milton West’ pair with ‘Burlington North’. Read more on the new ridings here.
The first of our local candidates to be interviewed is Charles Zach. He’s representing the People’s Party of Canada in the Burlington North-Milton West riding.

Audio PlayerINT – Affordability is an ongoing issue for Miltonians. What can the federal government do to improve the cost of living – whether it’s housing, groceries – or anything else?
Audio PlayerINT – The tariffs are on everyone’s mind. Everyone’s trying their best to buy local – buy Canadian. How should Canada handle the ongoing trade war?
Audio PlayerINT – The federal government has a big role in environmental issues. Locally, we have two prominent ones that keep coming up: the CN Intermodal Hub and the Campbellville Quarry. Do you, and the party, plan on helping residents fight back against these concerns?

Elections Canada says Advanced Voting will take place on the following days:
- Friday, April 18th
- Saturday, April 19th
- Sunday, April 20th
- Monday, April 21st
The election is set for Monday, April 28th.
