Canada Day activities in Milton, 2019
The Halton Agricultural Society has announced there will be no Canada Day celebrations or fireworks at the Milton Fairgrounds in 2025.
In a statement, the society says the decision comes with disappointment but was necessary due to limited operational capacity, a drop in volunteers, and increased event costs. Lower voluntary donations at the gates in recent years also played a role in the difficult decision.
This is not a new thing for Milton, as we saw Canada Day events in 2020 effectively cancelled due to the pandemic. The society says it hopes to revisit the possibility of bringing the event back in 2026 if community support grows.
Meanwhile, planning is already underway for the 170th Milton Fall Fair, which remains set for September 26th – September 29th at the Milton Fairgrounds, located at 136 Robert Street in Milton.
