The Milton Public Library (MPL) is celebrating local creativity and community connection with the official launch of its Seniors Visual Arts Exhibition.
The exhibition is the result of MPL’s year-long Engaging Senior Artists initiative — a project that brought older adults together to explore visual arts, develop new skills, and connect with others. The project was made possible through $25,000 in funding from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Grant.
“This funding allowed us to deliver an impactful program that empowered our senior community to explore their creativity, learn new skills, and tell their stories through art,” says Sarah Douglas-Murray, Chief Librarian and CEO of Milton Public Library.
A launch event will feature remarks from MPL staff, local dignitaries, and reflections from the participating Artists in Residence. Guests will also get a guided tour of the exhibit — offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and the stories behind the artwork.
Residents are invited to attend, meet the artists, and experience first-hand the talent and passion of Milton’s senior artists.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 16th at 11:30 a.m. at MPL’s Sherwood Branch on Main Street West.
