The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest after the attempted robbery of a jewelry store located in Burlington Centre Mall.
On Monday April 7th, at roughly 4:40 p.m., four male suspects dressed in all black and armed with hammers entered the mall. The suspects were also wearing face coverings and gloves. As the suspects were walking towards the Peoples Jewellers they were confronted by a lone security guard, causing them to attempt to flee. The guard was able to successfully arrest one member of the group, while three others fled in a newer model white Honda Civic.
No one was injured during the attempted robbery and nothing was stolen.
Police attended the scene and took custody of the suspect.
18-year-old Sangang Dorjee of no fixed address has been charged with the following:
- Attempt Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Assault with a Weapon
HRPS investigators have determined the Honda Civic involved in the attempted robbery was also involved in an attempted carjacking last month in Brampton. On Monday March 31st, a group of three suspects attacked a male victim in a parking lot as he attempted to enter his car. The suspects demanded his car keys and cellphone. The male managed to fight the suspects off and they fled in the white Honda Civic.
