The Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is calling on the community to come together this April for its second annual HLF Month.
This year’s theme is Your Community, Your Impact.
The month-long initiative focuses on breaking down financial barriers for students in the Halton District School Board (HDSB), helping ensure every student has access to school supplies, meals, and extracurricular opportunities.
HLF CEO Marc Clare says the need has never been greater.
“Education should be about learning, not worrying about where your next meal is coming from or whether you have the supplies to succeed. Many families in Halton are struggling—parents facing illness, job loss, or financial hardship. No child should have to worry about these challenges while trying to focus on school.”
HLF has already supported over 2,500 students this school year and expects that number to reach 3,600 by year’s end due to ongoing economic challenges. Since 2004, the organization has helped over 25,000 local students with emergency funding for food, clothing, school supplies, and more.
Throughout April, schools, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to participate by hosting fundraisers, organizing challenges, spreading awareness, or donating to HLF. Last year, 30 schools raised more than $30,000, supporting over 150 students.
HLF Month will culminate with Students in the Spotlight, an inspiring evening of student performances on Wednesday, April 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Burlington Central High School. Every ticket purchased helps provide critical support for students in need.
HLF Month is presented by CN, with all donations matched up to $25,000.
