Earth Day is almost here and you can celebrate it a number of ways with the Town of Milton.
It’s set for Tuesday, April 22nd. There will be community cleanups taking place around the day, with residents encouraged to take part, rain or shine.
They’ll be happening until Saturday, May 3rd, with cleanup kits available at the Milton Sports Centre during operating hours. These kits include:
- gloves
- garbage bags
- a map of surrounding areas
If you participate in local cleanups, email operations@milton.ca:
- To notify them so they can collect garbage bags in a timely manner
- To send a photo that they can share to recognize your efforts
- To ensure bags are placed near park garbage bins or in areas marked on the cleanup map
In honour of Earth Day, the Town of Milton will plant hundreds of trees and shrubs this spring and fall in partnership with Sustainable Milton and Conservation Halton. This is in addition to the many trees being planted in local parks and along streetscapes.
Residents can also take part in the Adopt-a-Park program, which is designed to strengthen neighborhood pride and support the beautification of Milton’s parks, roads, and trails. In addition to maintenance by Town staff, volunteers in this program help expedite cleanup efforts and foster a sense of community pride.
To adopt a park, road or trail in Milton, complete the application form.
