A Milton man has been arrested following a lengthy fraud investigation involving lumber.
Durham Regional Police began investigating the case two years ago. Between January 9th, 2023 and February 1st, 2023, a male suspect made several purchases of lumber products from a lumber company in Oshawa. The suspect arranged to have the lumber delivered to two separate commercial locations in Vaughan and Mississauga. Investigation revealed that the credit card data that was used was stolen from four separate victims.
It’s believed the lumber products were valued at over $46,000.
On Thursday, March 20th, the suspect was arrested without incident.
37-year-old Shahbaz Paracha of Milton is charged with:
- Fraud over $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Unauthorized use of credit card data (x4)
He was released on an Undertaking.
