The Milton Public Library is partnering with the Sikh National Archives of Canada a new project.
Milton newcomers to share their stories, which will then be used for the Newcomer Stories Project! It will document experiences through photography and writing, helping others feel connected and understood.
A professional photographer will take candid portraits, which will be displayed with written excerpts in a digital exhibit at the Sherwood Branch from April to May.
Participation is voluntary, and interested newcomers must sign a waiver.
Participant responsibilities and requirements include:
- Provide permission to Milton Public Library (MPL), Sikh National Archives of Canada, and Studiomits (Photography Studio) to share written stories and take photos related to their submitted newcomer experiences.
- Coordinate with MPL, Sikh National Archives, and Studiomits to schedule a photography session in the community.
- Adhere to agreed-upon dates and deadlines once coordination begins.
- Provide permission for public display of stories and photos at Sherwood Branch in April and May.
- Allow MPL, Sikh National Archives, and Studiomits to post photos on social media and related websites to promote the project.
- Sign a waiver and release form attached to this application.
