Two men have been arrested following an armed home invasion in Milton.
On Sunday, January 12th, at 12:52 a.m., three suspects broke into a home in the area of Walnut Landing and Proud Drive. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns, while the third was brandishing a hammer. They confronted an adult male resident of the home while a second adult female hid within the residence. Designer clothing items, jewelry, bank cards, and the keys to a Dodge Durango were stolen. The three suspects fled in a waiting Honda Civic hatchback driven by a fourth suspect. The victims did not sustain any physical injuries.
On Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at 5:40 a.m., two suspects then returned to the same residence and stole the Dodge Durango from the residence driveway.
Members of the HRPS 1 District Robbery Unit took carriage of the investigation and on Wednesday, January 29th, Criminal Code search warrants were executed at residences in Toronto and Milton where a quantity of the victim’s property was located and recovered.
As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Alex Ghakhar of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Break and Enter
- Robbery Using a Firearm
- Disguise with Intent
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
- Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card
- Operation While Prohibited (3 Counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 Counts)
- Possession of Automobile Master Key
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000
As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Ali Zaman of Milton was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Break and Enter
- Robbery Using a Firearm
- Disguise with Intent
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
- Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card
Ghakhar and Zaman were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
Follow up investigation has recovered the stolen Dodge Durango; however, the 1 District Robbery Unit is continuing to search for and identify other outstanding suspects connected to the investigation.
