A Burlington man is the latest local lottery winner!
John Tarnawsky matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the Wednesday, January 1st LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $100,000.
The retiree has been playing the lottery with OLG weekly for 30 years. Now, he’s kicking off the new year with a jaw-dropping six-figure win!
“I was at home when I scanned my ticket using the OLG app,” John recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings. “At first, I thought I’d won $10,000 and I was thrilled. When I showed my partner, she said, ‘That’s $100,000!’ My jaw hit the floor and I was left in a state of shock. It was such an exciting moment.”
He hasn’t shared the news with anyone yet, as the two wanted to enjoy the moment privately first. It’s safe to say the cat is out of the bag now!
The winning ticket was purchased at Fortinos on Appleby Line in Burlington.
