A Barrie man is facing charges after being caught speeding with a suspended license.
On Thursday, January 23rd, just after 1:00 p.m., officers from the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit were conducting proactive stationary speed enforcement in the Anne Street North and Livingstone Street West area.
A motor vehicle was spotted speeding through the posted 40km/h zone and was stopped. The 54-year-old man was also found to be driving while under suspension and was placed under arrest.
Further investigation revealed that the driver had over a dozen previous convictions for driving while under suspension, and under the authority of the Highway Traffic Act, and to prevent him from continuing to drive, the motor vehicle he was operating was towed. The vehicle will remain impounded until Friday, February 28th, when the driver is required to attend the Provincial Offences Court at 45 Cedar Pointe Drive.
Make sure to drive according to the posted speed limits and remember if there is no sign, the maximum speed that you can travel is 50km/h.
