A rally against the several local quarries is being held in Milton this weekend.
The Reform Gravel Mining Coalition is hosting an indoor rally in Milton, protesting quarry proposals in Campbellville, Caledon, and Puslinch.
It was reported by FM 101 Milton in 2020 that Premier Ford promised to halt the proposed Campbellville quarry, emphasizing that when communities oppose a project, it should not proceed. At the time of writing, there is no set plan to stop the quarry. Many mayors and residents believe it’s time for Ford to uphold this commitment as new quarry applications arise.
On hand at the protest will be Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz, Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, Caledon Mayor Annette Groves, and Puslinch Mayor James Seeley. They will be joined by several leaders of advocacy groups representing CORE Burlington, ACTION Milton and Forks of the Credit Preservation Group.
Live music is expected, with musicians Sarah Harmer and Jim Cuddy reported to perform.
It’ll start at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th inside the Gambrel Barn at Country Heritage Park, located at 8560 Tremaine Road in Milton.
