A Burlington resident is among a pair of protesters who were arrested on New Year’s Day.
The Toronto Police Service says that on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, at roughly 1:10 a.m., police attended a demonstration at Union station. It is alleged that a group of protestors were demonstrating inside the building. They add that two of the protestors discharged a smoke canister, which filled Union station with smoke, causing safety concerns.
On Friday, January 10th, 31-year-old Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad of Mississauga and 24-year-old Nabil Suheil Jalbout of Burlington were arrested and charged with one count each of Mischief Interfere with the Lawful use of Property
They are both scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Thursday, February 20th.
