The Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) has launched its annual Fill A Crib campaign, aimed at supporting vulnerable families through its Infant Food Bank. With a growing need for essential supplies, this year’s initiative has received a significant boost from Broccolini, a construction company committed to giving back to the community.
Broccolini donated over $15,000 worth of diapers and formula to the campaign, helping ensure the shelves stay stocked for the 170+ babies who rely on the Infant Food Bank each month. At a special event celebrating the donation, Milton Mayor Gord Krantz made an honorary proclamation recognizing Broccolini’s generosity.
“On behalf of the Town of Milton, we are so grateful for Broccolini’s contributions,” said Mayor Krantz. “This is a company that goes above and beyond to make a difference. Their donation will provide vital support to families in need.”
Brian Peters of Broccolini echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the company’s commitment to community building. “At Broccolini, we believe we’re about more than just construction; we’re about building community,” Peters said. “We’re proud to support the MCRC and the incredible work they do.”
MCRC Executive Director Becky Andrade expressed heartfelt thanks for Broccolini’s continued support of the campaign. “This donation allows us to help families not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year,” said Andrade. “We are deeply grateful for Broccolini’s generosity and the difference they’ve made in the lives of so many families.”
The Fill A Crib campaign runs until January 15, 2025. Residents can contribute by donating diapers, formula, baby food, and menstrual supplies at participating locations, purchasing items through the Amazon Wish List, or making monetary contributions online. Participants can also set up personal fundraising pages with a goal of $500 to support the cause.
With plans to expand the Infant Food Bank to Georgetown in 2025, the MCRC is calling on the community to help meet the growing demand. “With inflation and food insecurity on the rise, we’re seeing a record number of families turn to us for support,” said Andrade. “Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.”
