The holidays are underway and the Salvation Army Khi Community are hoping to make it a good year for everyone.
On Monday, November 25th, they’ll begin their 2024 Christmas Assistance Program for families in Milton that are struggling to make ends meet.
Director and Officer Ruth Hickman says it embodies the spirit of Christmas by handing out toys.
There will be a free toy shop that will be open for two weeks, allowing both new and existing clients to choose items for their children.
Food bank registration and appointments can be made at any time throughout the year.
This year, the Salvation Army expects to provide food and/or toy assistance to more than 1000 households in November and December, with roughly 1500 children receiving toys.
The program is available for children 0 – 16 years of age within Milton, Campbellville, Hornby and Moffat. To register, call 905-875-1022 to book an appointment. You’ll need to provide valid ID showing current address and valid ID with birthdate for all children receiving toys.
If you’d like to help your neighbours, you can provide non-perishable (not expired) food, new unwrapped toys, or make a financial donation. All donations can be received at the Salvation Army Khi Community location at 820 Nipissing Road. Alternatively, food and toy donations can be made at any Milton fire station and financial donations can be made at any of their six kettle locations throughout the season. You can also donate online here.
