The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a pair of break ins that are believed to be linked.
On Saturday November 16th, at roughly 4:10 a.m., suspects attended an address on Lakeshore Road and attempted to break into the home. The attempt was unsuccessful and police believe the motive for this break-in was the keys to the resident’s vehicles.
A short time later, two suspects attended an address in the area of Third Line and Rebecca Street in Oakville and smashed a front window with a hammer. The suspects then entered the home and stole the keys to a Mercedes SUV parked in the driveway. The suspects then stole the SUV. The residents did not have any interaction with the thieves and were not physically injured.
Shortly after these break-ins, police located the stolen SUV travelling in tandem with an Audi. The vehicles were travelling at high rates of speed and not stopping at red lights.
The Audi vehicle was later located by police abandoned in the area of Dorval Drive and Kerr Street. It was reported stolen out of Peel region.
Investigators believe these break-ins are related and Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
