Another exhibition has been announced for the Heslon Gallery in Halton Hills.
They’ve announced the opening of Open Water, the 99th International Juried Exhibition organized by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC). This exclusive exhibition runs until Sunday, January 12th, 2025 and showcases the exceptional talent and creativity of watercolour artists from Canada as well as other parts of the world.
Open Water celebrates the art of transparent watercolour, providing a platform for artists to showcase their talents in this medium. Each piece in the exhibition has been carefully selected by a jury.
“I am excited to see the Helson Gallery welcome such a high profile exhibition to our community,” states Mayor Ann Lawlor. “An added bonus is the chance to meet some of the talented watercolour artists at the opening reception.”
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 16th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. where awards will be presented. Many of the artists will be in attendance and will be available for discussions.
The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour was founded in November 1925 by 12 major Canadian talents who were all passionately committed to the importance of watercolour as a medium. Their aim was to recognize, encourage and nurture excellence of work in the medium of watercolour. The founding artists were: F.H. Brigden, A.J. Casson, Franklin Carmichael, C.W. Jefferys, Fred S. Haines, L.A.C. Panton, R.F. Gagen, Thomas G. Greene, Robert Holmes, Franz Johnston, Andre Lapine, and E.J. Sampson.
The Helson Gallery is the only location for in-person viewing of this exhibit. The gallery is located at 9 Church Street in Georgetown and is open Wednesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
