This is how the Frasers found their priceless display
Thanksgiving is supposed to be the highlight of the year for Wheelbarrow Orchards.
The local apple orchard is coming off a long weekend that is arguably their best four-day stretch yet. From visitors, to selling baked goods, drinks, and preserves, they managed to hit all-time highs (or come close) across the board.
Unfortunately, any celebration today has been sullied by the actions of some inconsiderate apple pickers.
It was shared on social media by owner Heather Fraser that several wooden cows that were put on display on the farm have been either broken or stolen. She shared that all three cows were created by a family friend who has since passed away.
“We wanted to share them with our customers to lighten people’s moods with a little bit of whimsy,” writes Fraser. “We were naïve enough to not expect they would be damaged.”
The Frasers have a history of cow farming prior to starting their apple orchard decades ago.
She adds that it’s saddening to think either an adult would find joy out of this act or a parent wouldn’t teach their child to be respectful to other people’s property.
Two wooden cows were found destroyed, seemingly kicked and smashed. The third is reportedly missing.
“It just makes me sad that anyone would think that it’s okay.”
You can find Wheelbarrow Orchards at 8277 10 Side Road in Halton Hills, just outside of Milton. Their market remains open after the holiday weekend, and you can purchase all kinds of items that are made in-house through the Fraser’s Harvest Goodies produce company.
